"Basking in the Sun" won Honorable Mention today at the CWA show at the Alameda Free Library. David Savellano was the juror. 52 paintings were entered in the show. The reception is on October 12 from 6 to 8 pm.

Asilomar is a conference center in Pacific Grove, CA. About 30 artists from "Art Round Table" rent one of the buildings each year for a week of sun, beach, forest and of course, painting.

My friend Marcia went horseback riding in Sonoma County recently and took a picture of this gorgeous horse. I just had to paint him. This is a small 'study' before I start the larger painting. If it turns out as good as this one, I'll post it! This one is 4" x 6", framed it will be 8" x 10".

Benicia State Capitol

The Benicia State Capitol building was the 3rd State Capitol of California. The first was in San Jose, then they moved it to Vallejo. It was in Benicia for about a year before they made Sacramento the final State Capitol. This was painted 'en plein air' on Arches watercolor block, 14" x 20"

This is a painting of Gallery Concord. This was done on site, although not plein air. I took photographs and painted inside while working at the Gallery. It's on an Arches watercolor block, 14" x 20"

Blake Gardens

This was painted on site, plein air, at Blake Garden in Kensington. I painted it first with the CWA plein air group on May 6 and then finished it at the same location the next Saturday, May 13 with the East Bay Plein Air Painters. The image is 12" x 16", on an Arches 140 lb Rough Watercolor Block. Blake Garden is a beautiful place, 10 acres of magical pathways, I highly recommend a visit.

"Basking in the Sun" just finished and ready to enter in the CWA 42nd National Exhibition. The CWA National Exhibition receives hundreds and hundreds of entries and only 100 are accepted. Fingers crossed!

CWA had a Plein Air day in San Francisco yesterday. We took the Oakland Ferry and painted at the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero. Here's my painting of the day. We posted the rest on the CWA Facebook page

Today "Sea Lions" was accepted into the John Muir Medical Center, CWA show in the Aspen Surgery Center. There are 61 paintings in this show. The show will be up until March 25, 2011. Here are the directions to the Aspen Surgery Center.

Gallery Concord announces it's newest show "Generations" which will run from January 5th, 2011 through March 27, 2011. Opening night reception is Friday January 7th from 6:00 to 8:00. Light refreshments and beverages will be served and music will be provided by The Dana Street Trio.
